Exporting captions from Encore for YouTube?

i have encore project spanish captions.  client there spanish closed captions on youtube version of video (the speakers speaking english).  able export caption file encore, don't know how convert .txt file youtube can import. can me?

hi jdmack01. i've been working subtitles lot lately, , can understand frustration/concern.  ...making subtitles lot of hard long tedious work, , it's horrible when things don't move 1 system another!

as youtube question, here's answer: ^_^

youtube supports upload of following caption script formats:

  • .srt - subrip - basic version supported.
  • .sbv - subviewer
  • .scc - scenarist closed caption. premium content has broadcast-quality captions (movies, tv shows, etc) highly recommend format.
  • .dfxp - distribution format exchange profile.
  • .smi - synchronized accessible media interchange
  • .sub - mplayer subtitle (and other similar formats)
  • .lrc - lyrics
  • .rt - realtext
  • .stl - ebu-stl. used in europe broadcast content.

i'm using adobe cs6, , seems export subtitle/caption file simple txt script file. (not supported youtube format) however, there's wonderful opensource (free) subtitling program called "subtitle edit" (can found here->  www.nikse.dk ) take encore exported subtitles (and other captioning format) , allow save them in of formats above.  default youtube likes subviewer format (.sbv) recommend saving that.

to export subtitles encore, click "timeline" top menu, , "export subtitles" in drop-down. export text script , open in subtitle edit program. choose "save as" under file menu, , save captions youtube .sbv format. (it's next last file format listed in dropdown save menu)

i became introduced subtitle edit. has bit of learning curve, prove huge asset if plan on doing more subtitling in future. hope helps!
