Saving selected elements - please help! :)

hello, have illustrator artwork , want save different elements on artwork new files without saving whole artboard?

 

i can't seem find simple way this? have tried copying selection, opening new document , pasting still have adjust artboard fit super fiddly.... (not in photoshop sizes artboard size of copied selection).

 

am missing simple?! have heaps of little elements need save separately (without huge artboard behind them) , think might go crazy if need create new specifc size artboard each of them.

 

pleasehelp me not go crazy...

select artboard tool (shift + o), in control bar @ top of screen presets menu choose fit selected art. have in mind artboard doesn't matter unless save pdf used in other programs or want clip artboard when exporting raster images. press shift + ctrl + h hide , there no artboard bother me , don't care @ size. @ end size of printer paper determine frame, or pixel size if creating screen graphics. if know output size before creating graphics use artboard frame artwork, if don't know output, framing objects artboard waste of time.

 

edit: forgot there 1 useful function size of artboard during work ctrl + 0 frame artboard in window. if doing reason makes sense.

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
