Thread: Fan on High Capacity, for Seemingly no Reason

hello everyone, having strange problem , need troubleshooting. have dell latitude e6410 laptop integrated intel graphics, , use kubuntu 11.04 (64-bit).

right now, type this, fan on @ assume it's loudest, , has been loud past 20 minutes non stop. have running firefox (since i'm typing post) konsole window, , dolphin window.

doesn't make sense, considering cpu usage isn't maxed out (it's less 10% of time on each core, jumping 30% , down) , it's using less 1gb of 8gb of ram. checked see if cpu's throttling properly, , each of 4 cores running @ 1199mhz. regularly clean laptop of dust , debris. make short, see no logical reason why fan should on full blast. air coming out of vent barely luke warm.

has been happening while, haven't had chance troubleshoot until due spending free time studying linux+ (which passed, yay!)

edit: forgot mention reason didn't post temperature of laptop because lmsensors isn't compatible, , cannot read temperature sensors.

hi,

had similar issue e4200, after upgraded bios last available , upgraded vga driver problem gone...

see ya....
