Thread: How to get an Elementary-like desktop on Ubuntu?


i not want install elementary os, , want similar interface. installed docky, unity gets in way. there way can disable that?

also, can hide docky application icon on docky?

or there better way this?

elementary os based on ubuntu 10.10, has gnome 2.32. that's desktop environment has. doesn't seem me easy task go unity set , stripping down elementary os. can, though, use gnome-classic, , go there. seems easier way, , don't have thing getting in way of docky. , there, can go stripping out things don't use (apparently, common things things people don't use command line text editors nano, media players, , few other things).

i'm not sure if can hide application icon on docky, i'm sure it's possible. try:

, through options docky there.
