Thread: PC Won't boot - GRUB related
my pc not boot past grub selection screen. i'm not sure if that's it's called it's screen says can boot ubuntu, test memory, or boot windows 7. keyboard responds cannot hit down arrow. when select ubuntu says:
"
error: invalid extent.
error: symbol not found: 'grub_os_area_addr'.
error: symbol not found: 'grub_os_area_addr'.
"
here's chain of events:
1) windows 7 installed
2) ubuntu 11 installed
3) ubuntu 11 isn't working correctly (pc still boots both os's). few minor issues.
4) decide go tried , true ubuntu 10.
5) install ubuntu 10, delete ubuntu 11 partition , replace ubuntu 10.
6) ubuntu 10 installs, prompts me restart
7) upon restart saw this:
"error: symbol not found: 'grub_putchar'.
grub rescue >"
8 )after several attempts @ fixing (potential solutions found through google. involved trying reload grub and/or grub2). i'm @ problem listed in first paragraph.
