Thread: Some update erased graphics card stuff, now I see all black

yesterday night ubuntu started automatic update. telling me stuff being erased, other updated, etc. clicked on continue, installation of new packages went without problem.
rebooted, can't enter in ubuntu. guess can, can't see black screen.
if remember well, ubuntu updates erased "nvidia 173", though i'm not 100% sure 173.
way, i'm (wasn't?) not using latest nvidia drivers because unity cannot work (all freezes , took me tons of time fix can see if posts here) graphic card+latest nvidia drivers.

question is: how do enter in ubuntu used to? mean, being able see something!

chance dual boot windows xp (that terribly hate). saved me lots of time , still does, apparently.
in advance.
