Thread: Ubuntu Killed My Laptop!!

hi all,
here's story....
have dell inspiron 700m. i've been running ubuntu since 2008. every time re-install o.s. have alter video driver. when 10.04 released crashed system , couldn't figure out how fix left karmic on , well. dvd/cd drive never worked right under karmic no big deal.

anyway, last week attempted upgrade. went fine until upgrade finished , time reboot.

reboot hung, ended killing power , doing cold boot.
when booting hard drive, brief flash of ubuntu welcome screen (in wrong resolution) , things die. i'm left looking @ grey curser in upper left.

worse yet, can't boot live cd or usb. neither, ubuntu, opensuse or puppy linux boot cd or usb.

double checked boot order in bios , still nothing boots. reset bios factory default, still nothing boots. disabled hard-drive in boot order in bios , still nothing boots.

can't figure out happened , can't access machine @ exepet enter bios.

can give me hand this???
in advance,
greg

can run live cd of ubuntu
