Thread: chocolate-doom installed, WADs downloaded... how to get it all working?
i've been trying figure out hours
details:
have ubuntu 10.04 lucid, , installed "chocolate-doom" using ubuntu software centre. installed files in following places -
- usr/share/doc/chocolate-doom (documents inside named: bugs, changelog.debian.gz, changelog.gz, copyright, news.gz, readme , todo
- usr/share/games/doom/ (files inside named: doom1.wad , prboom.wad)
- usr/games/chocolate-doom (files executable game files. clicking on chocolate-doom starts doom title screen music, screen goes black , window closes again)
managed hold of actual doom wad files - doom 1, 2 , 3. (named doom2.wad etc) @ moment these in home folder in folder called "game info." (/home/game info)
guidelines have read point putting these wad files in "the same directory executable file" - assume mean straight usr/games/chocolate-doom folder, or share one...?
work? problem can't paste them in either place because don't have root priviliges either folder. had brief go @ moving them sudo mv or gksudo command...but perhaps typing filepaths incorrectly. (i used user name instead of "user" - upset it?)
don't want try more @ point til understand commands use better...
alternative thing try copied installed files new folder in home folder, clicked on copy of executable file. in same folder...but of course didn't work.
advice appreciated! played doom2 when first came out... feeling nostalgic...![]()
