8 and 16 bits in grayscale alpha channel

hello.

when have image in 8 bits per channel, grayscale alpha channel in 8 bits (256 levels).

but when have image in 16 bits per channel, grayscale alpha channel in 16 bits (32.768 levels)? lot make selection...

be aware selections 8bit.

 

edit: means differnt results

• if load channel selection , apply layer mask ,

• if copy channel’s content , paste layer mask –

though difference may seem imperceptible.
