Illustrator CS5 crashing on exit

illustrator cs5 keeps crashing on every exit. hoping can identify more appealing solution workaround found.

 

steps take reproduction problem (with or without creating or opening documents between):

  • launch illustrator
  • exit illustrator

 

symptoms

 

once illustrator application window , taskbar icon disappear, message window pops up, "adobe illustrator cs5.1 has stopped working. windows checking solution." option click "cancel" button. window pops again. so, click "cancel" button again.

 

the following errors added windows application error logs (note 2 different exception codes):

  • operating system: microsoft windows 7 home premium 64-bit edition
  • illustrator version: 15.0.2.399 (up-to-date, theoretically)

 

efforts remedy


functioning or inconclusive workarounds:

  • launch illustrator new windows user account
    i got 1 work. but, lose lot of personal settings.
  • "verify" illustrator
    member usgrant7 posted solution (#5 in discussion "illustrator error upon closing") worked him/her. but, instructions vague , unspecific follow success. haven't had success far contacting member.

 

common solutions having no effect:

  • reboot computer
  • uninstall illustrator , reinstall (also tried removing various illustrator settings folders between)
  • granti full control permissions illustrator application folder (and subfolders)
  • launch illustrator administrative priviledges ("as administrator")
  • launch illustrator in various compatibility modes

when quit, illustrator trying save prefs, try resetting illustrator prefs. or may have permissions issue, common in win7, not allowing prefs write.

 

adobe owl shared library provides consistent , behavior user interface (ui) of adobe applications incorporate it. adobe cs4 applications incorporate library include: contribute, dreamweaver, illustrator, indesign, fireworks, flash , photoshop.

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
