Setting "Print Size"

here's quick tip can set magnification of  "view > print size" reflect actual physical size of document.

1.  measure horizontal viewable size of monitor or laptop screen.  example: 13.75 inches.

2.  note horizontal resolution. 1366 pixels instance.

3.  divide pixels inches screen resolution per inch.  1366/13.75 = 99.3 pixels/in

4   in photoshop's preferences > units & rulers, enter value under new document preset resolutions shown in screenshot.  save , close.

after that, when select print size, the document , onscreen rulers reflect actual size. open gl graphics cards being common, the odd magnification needed results won't appear jagged.

if want exact displaying print size:

open new 500 pixel x 500 pixel file in photoshop, , set 100% (view actual pixels) if not come way.

get out ruler , measure image on screen in inches.

divide 500 measurement.

this resolution of screen.

move decimal point 2 places right in number, , write down somewhere. call monitor factor.

for indesign or illustrator viewing actual size assumes monitor of 72ppi, fine tune actual size in apps, divide monitor factor 72 % view need apps see same size.

for photoshop, divide monitor factor resolution (in ppi) of whatever image working on determine right zoom percentage image.

enter figure in photoshop > preferences > units & rulers > new document preset resolutions > screen > resolution >. can select zoom tool , click on "print size" button have image automatically show @ actual print size on screen.

(you can enter figure when create new photoshop document, , set correct print size on files, including existing ones.)

has been case since cs2.
