Thread: 11.04 Suspend and Hibernate don't work

i use laptop (toshiba tecra m9) @ home , work, , want keep mail, firefox, , vm going when move between 2. want use suspend, unreliable. times when try suspend, white arrow cursor on black screen, , processor fan never stops, , need hold down power switch kill machine. hibernate shut down after long time of saving session disk, when try to resume, blank black screen, , have hold down power switch ... . use time; important me.

dare windows xp worked flawlessly when base operating system? have seen numerous others complaining of same problem, don't think machine or installation. have tried 3 different cures problem no avail, e.g.

mine clean installation onto fresh hd, not upgrade. have wireless turned off.

please, please, please can this?

11.04 brilliant, not having working suspend/resume ridiculous.

someone suggested 2.6.39 kernel might have sorted out problem. upgraded this, unfortunately vm-player complained didn't work later kernel, had revert 2.6.38-8-generic.

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
