Thread: How to access SAMBA (server: Ubuntu, client: Ubuntu)
hi there!
have samba server installed on first pc , need mount on laptop.
pc (where samba server installed):
ip: 192.168.1.251
username (say 'gabriel') , password (say 'pass')
ubuntu installed on (10.10)
laptop:
connected same network, can access pc (tried through ping 192.168.1.251)
ubuntu installed on (11.04)
tried this:
and i've got this:code:sudo mount -t smbfs -o username=gabriel //192.168.1.251/ /mnt/
i appreciate help. thanks.code:retrying upper case share name mount error(6): no such device or address refer mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)
lets first goes wrong. try list shares available samba server, execute following command:
$ smbclient -l yourhostname
should see list of shares available on server. if not, incorrectly configured.
if see list, try connecting service.
$ smbclient //yourhostname/servicename
there should active connection. please post you´re findings here can further. check following links troubleshooting.
