Thread: Safely Trying To Go From Dual Booting 9.10/Windows 7 To 11.04/Windows 7

hey everyone, first time posting, , come seeking advice.

bit of back-story, built current computer i'm using, , first installed os (64-bit) ubuntu 9.10, didn't have other os @ time. knew might eventually, during install split hard drive 2 partitions.

short time after, got windows 7, , installed on 2nd partition dual boot two. 1-2 years i've booted windows 7 everyday work. , now, know, 9.10 has hit eol.

want @ point format ubuntu partition(s), merge them windows 7 partition, restart, interrupt start boot cd containing ubuntu 11.04, install it, , split resulting partition (of earlier merge) between windows 7 , ubuntu 11.04.

come questions... first of all, have got basic idea of how down (i don't think of myself expert on sort of thing)? i've heard horror stories of being locked out of windows 7, or losing windows 7 data, after attempting this, aim safely, without error. second, if don't, have missed?

third, reason said "ubuntu partition(s)" earlier because when viewing partitions in windows 7, see 2 nameless partitions sized @ 39.04 gb , 1.72 gb respectively, along 192.02 gb c: drive (w7) partition , 100 mb system reserved (w7) partition; assumed 2 nameless ones ubuntu , grub or along lines, since listed healthy, primary partitions... correct?

, advice appreciated, if read everything!
