General design & layout help needed, please! 2.5.7 - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

hi all,

i building test site youth baseball league son plays in (and on board for). have used joomla in past, professionals. am... approaching mediocre in joomla administration skill set. :-) still "green" @ it.

i running joomla 2.5.7 , have few add-on modules: roknavmenu running drop-down menu on top, frontpage slideshow slideshow header, simple marquee scrolling "ticker" , simple random quote. using beez2 template.

i have whole mess of questions , wondering if y'all please give me hand. easy, i'm sure; simple things overlooking. tougher.

here goes!

1. when visiting site, in browser, says "home". click on general , says "general". yet when go admin panel, says "shedd park baseball organization". that's i'd pages say: "shedd park baseball organization - whatever". know there's way this, damned if can figure out...

2. overall site background white. boring. change that? css, i'm sure, leads me to...

3. lemme start saying beez2 template, there 16 css files associated it. 16! seems 10 different functions styled 10 different css files, , maddening! lol! can sum controlling what?

4. main (top) menu "roknavmenu"... took while set up. roknavmenu has own in css file located in /modules/mod_roknavmenu/themes/fusion/css via ftp. i've attached that.

a: line 1 of attached css, added "garamond" first font. changed entire site garamond! how change font what's contained in menus?
b: top-level menus taller need based on text in them. have tried multiple changes in attached css no avail. ideas? sub-menu heights seem perfect.
c: top-level menu items widen based on content in them. sub-menu items don't seem evidenced if hover on "contact us" , see how "contact commish" , contact secretary" don't fit. again, i've tried several changes no avail. help?!

5. see "baseball quotes" , "weather report" modules on right? "titles" same title "database menu" module on left. why aren't they, , can so? if so, how?

6. sliding "marquee" thing. see *'s? there 2 @ beginning of message (a small 1 , big one), , 2 more @ message end. set in "basic options" of module itself. it's called placeholder. set 1 *. , yet small ones appear well. if type "***", not 3 want, 3 additional small ones! ideas why?
