Is a mechanical keyboard a good idea?

currently using microsoft natural multimedia keyboard 1.0a got in 2003/2004 of keys starting have problems , i'm thinking of spending ~$100 mechanical keyboard. use space-bar lot editor wasd video games , i'm wondering if has experiences mechanical keyboard key type recommend red/blue/brown etc.

manufactures high quality buckling-spring keyboards, based on ibm m standard. 

 

most actual typists *much* prefer mechanical action.  if hunt , peck, or don't extended typing, might make less of difference.  well-made mechanical keyboards can last many, many years.
