trying install kernel 2.6.39.1 on ubuntu 11.04

a little old? it's prehistoric.

having said that, i'm surprised in 2004, author of page didn't consider many people using distro used grub rather lilo.

if want 2.6.39 kernel in natty, find lot easier enable kernel-ppa repository. if want this, open terminal, and:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kernel-ppa sudo apt-get update

don't upgrade apt-get upgrade terminal because reason holds 2.6.39 packages. instead, open synaptic, click on "mark upgrades", , "apply". install 2.6.39.0 kernel, not -1, that's i'm running on natty, , seems fine. reboot , using 2.6.39 kernel.
