Thread: KDM will not log me in

hi all. have problem kdm. no matter do, not give me access desktop. (yes, have entered correct password, , know because when intentionally enter wrong one, red lines saying so). have tried in recovery mode, other kernels, , failsafe session. console login work. have seen similar thread , followed instructions, gdm , didn't work out. have ran genkdmconf, no avail (except gave me new face icon ). other operating systems (windows vista , ubuntu 11.04) work normally. [edit: have idea what's causing because yesterday flashed bios a11 a17. don't think cause of problem though, of may disagree]. of course it's not first preference, if reinstall necessary, 1 of lucky few seperate /home .

no solution, couple of random ideas:

check log files (/var/log/kdm.log*, syslog, auth.log, or changed log file)

rename $home/.kde/ directory temporarily.

shouldn't bios flashing problem... unless working before flashed!

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
