@ bottom asks device boot loader installation. if dont want install this? harddrive im installing has own boot loader (chameleon osx), , dont want mess other harddrive has windows 7 , mbr. chameleon should able pick ubuntu right?
, sorry noob questions
i prefer smaller / (root) or system partitions systems , separate data or /home store data. system more efficent not have search large partition find files. need have 25% used. find lots of programs using 6gb, 20 25gb root good. rest of space /home. swap can little 2gb or if hibernating same size ram in gib. if lots of ram not (and not want to) using swap.
keep boot loader in mbr, manually partition in advance or part of install. 11.04 calls "something else". select install grub2's boot loader. install pbr partition boot sector. not recommended less reliable. may have reinstall after grub updates. has use blocklists or hard coded addresses find files pbr small hold code have or has.
have gpt partitions? if can can create bios_grub partition , if cannot install partition gpt not support pbrs. not sure if totally works or not. directly boot bios mbr ubuntu gpt , have bios_grub partition.
