Thread: Screen keeps on flashing

yesterday trying rid of ubuntu menu , try change how desktop looks. it's hard explain first desktop when first start ubuntu on netbook. somehow turned in desktop esque menu. icons , stuff. today battery accidentally fell out moved around , when restarted computer went fine until screen started flashing. on upper right hand corner, transparent square 2 arrows when flashes. still showed connected wireless , etc. know problem? way fix without having reinstall ubuntu?
