Thread: Ubuntu 11.04 Installation in dual boot with windows 7


hello,

trying install ubuntu 11.04 on dell laptop (n5010).
have following partitions:

1) oem (39 mb)
2) system (100 mb)
3) c (windows intallation) (100 gb)
4) d (150 gb)
5) e (~220 gb)

shrank c drive 10 gbs make space ubuntu during installation of ubuntu shows first 3 partitions (oem, system, c (reduced)) , rest 1 chunk of unusable hard disk space).
in windows can see chunk 3 distinct partitions.
please help.

did create these partitions in windows? windows not use standard extended partition partition converts proprietary lvm - logical volume manager.

dynamic volume microsoft proprietary format developed veritas (now acquired symantec) logical volumes.

post screen shot windows see if partitions still basic or converted dynamic. per windows 1 way conversion , way unconvert entire drive , repartition. third party tools may without losing data, still have backups if want try that.
