Thread: WiFi Internet Issues

so, i'm having trouble wifi connection: speed , connection comes in bursts. example, take 5-10 seconds in firefox saying "connecting," , @ once entire page load instantaneously, etc. disconnected , reconnected wireless network has great signal no apparent reason, when running on battery seems, maybe part imagination or coincidence.

99% sure problem wireless card driver, there chance it's not. i'm running ubuntu 11.04 64-bit on lenovo thinkpad x220 realtek rtl8188ce 802.11b/g/n wifi adapter. manually compiled , installed official linux drivers realtek's website (the ones came ubuntu unusable connection bad).

my questions are:
1) in event maybe isn't driver's fault, other things causing problem? else worth checking?
2) worth trying install windows driver using ndiswrapper? how do this? i've never tried before.

thank you!

interesting update, though i'm not sure it's of consequence: appears if continually keep requesting data through network, never disconnected, , speeds improve. have left "ping google.com" running in terminal while, , problems apparently solved.

obviously, not permanent solution want use, maybe sheds light on root of problem.

can sure: has nothing network connected to. no other computers experience similar issues on same networks, , pervades multiple networks. i'm still convinced it's wifi driver issue now.
