background color

i'm new photoshop 10.  i'm taking picture of greeting card , background grey.  easiest way turn background white (for beginner)?  thanks!!!

if solid grey, try following:

 

1. open picture file
2. the background layer locked layer. left click lock in layers palette, , drag the  trash can
3. access magic wand tool (uncheck contiguous) select background , hit delete on keyboard. should see checkerboard pattern, denotes transparency
4. go select>deselect
5. set color chip, lower left, white foreground color
6. access paintbucket tool (k) , fill transparent area white.

 

 

if not you, there other ways, such via enhance>adjust color>replace color.
