SEF URL Options, Comparison & How-to - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

i'm new joomla , setting several sites myself.

i've been through related documentation , searches & posts on forum. 'havent found i'm looking for. i'm looking experience based information , guidance me configure sites url system correctly.

my sef url setup goals simple;

1. want stable, easy read url's content.

2. want low maintenance url system. not have make manual entries or url corrections.

3. need minimize compatibility issues.

4. cost not factor, with-in reason.

i've got both acesef , se404 extensions available , have been testing them. i'm partial acesef, seems 'high maintenance'. there red url's need attention, seems randomly assign or duplicate url's , there compatiblity questions other extensions.

1 extension use acymail, advised me away using 3rd party sef url extension.

my questions are;

1. positive and/or negative 3rd party sef url extensions bring site? unnecessary bit of history joomla 1.0 days when functionality not built in?

2. of 3rd party sef extensions should consider live site?

3. needed v2.5? seems native joomla has sef url functionality built in?

we don't ever use other built in sef url option - niggle article/category number being part of url, it's never been problem.

the extensions work, say, it's not entirely automated , have had issues conflicts between them , other components/modules - maybe have been fixed, didn't seem worth time.

we have plenty of sites rank competitive keywords, feel free listen arguments other way, i'm sure along shortly!!
