i found in forum have go 1build1 version of udisks , downloaded it, when try install it, message synaptic manager "a later version installed". if try remove exisiting one, telling me have remove several other packages not want do.
new ubuntu not know copy downloaded file appear in versions , can make choice of forcing installation.

dropping version of many programs can problematic because of specific dependencies - finding. can provide link thread/post suggests reverting earlier version of udisks?

not particularly elegant functional workaround issue of floppy mounting has plagued ubuntu far long open terminal, and:

udisks --mount /dev/fd0

you need put floppy disc in drive before run that. if error fd0 not existing, post , we'll that.

if works you, 2 comments. can create desktop and/or panel launcher based on - makes little more elegant. - if manage mount floppy command, need aware writing floppy little different used in windows. sometimes, when drag , drop files floppy file-manager window, write not committed disc immediately, merely placed in memory cache. therefore, don't remove disc when finished - need right-click on desktop icon , choose "eject/unmount/safely-remove" (i don't remember which) when in cache written disc.
