Thread: New to ubuntu - need some help

i new ubuntu (just installed yesterday), have lots of questions.
what's difference between ubuntu, kubuntu, xubuntu, edubuntu, mythbuntu, gobuntu , lubuntu?

if don't use wubi install ubuntu, able install d:\? can access c:\ after that? how?
used wubi yesterday, reason why can access c:\?
how can access d:\?

how can make shortcut desktop? found out if right-click on desktop , click on "make shortcut" (or else. don't know in english, because use hungarian ubuntu , writes "parancsikon létrehozása" same "make shortcut" in english) , type firefox command firefox shortcut, how can chromium or other programs? why can't drag icon/shortcut desktop in windows?

if close skype, goes minimized tray on upper right corner on screen, when minimize amsn or firefox, disappear. how can them back?

each has different setup; edubuntu "education" flavor, xubuntu "light" version, kubuntu runs kde instead of gnome, etc. etc.

wubi creates virtual partition ubuntu run in. can access windows ntfs files either through wubi or normal installation.

you can "create launcher". ubuntu not windows, doesn't work same.

you should able click launcher button particular program re open it.
