Trouble getting to Joomla 2.5 - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

this long story , demonstrates joomla in-experience need resolving this.

i encouraged move 1.7 2.5 able use slogin modules

i tried use extension manager execute upgrade package. failed copy error -1.

i sought posted items in forum , asked hosting service advice. hosting service declined involved @ point felt joomla forum more point problem.

the forum input picked included checking disc space, checking directories write enabled, clearing tmp folder , retrying etc. appeared ok continued have same error returned.

further exploration of input forum suggested upgrading using akeeba admin tools has more robust upgrade process (forum input not mine).

i installed akeeba admin tools. appears latest joomla version , offers process upgrade version. in case version 3. ummed , ahhed.

i did take akeeba when working ok on joomla 1.7 , have .jpa file on mem stick.

i, in hindsight, rather foolishly, pressed akeeba admin tools upgrade joomla 3 button.

my front end still displaying , apparently functioning correctly cant access end. when try enter administrator receive message 'your host needs use php 5.3.1 or higher run version of joomla!' , unable enter. should have checked before pressing button see host @ php 5.2.x.

i have restored using akeeba kickstart , .jpa file.
no change. front end displays correctly , functionality appears ok. still cannot use end.

1. i'd joomla 1.7 have end access operating correctly again first of all.

2. can breathe again , more careful in process of upgrading more recent joomla version.

if forum can pointers or advice grateful.

so, in summary, have publicly visible , apparently functional web site.

it put joomla 1.7.

using akeeba admin tools upgraded joomla 3.0.

subsequently discover hosting server not have required php release support joomla 3.0 support 1.7 , 2.5.

the effect unable enter end.

how can roll joomla 2.5 or 1.7. ?

i have akeeba generated .jpa file of working site under joomla 1.7 before went joomla 3.0
