i have epson 636u usb scanner have been using years hosted on 10.04 system. current situation user account can detect scanner "scanimage -l" , "sane-find-scanner" can root account, new user account created. added same group permissions new user account have on account. don't know why works me , not new user. can see device name of scanner /dev/bus/usb/002/002. if set group membership of device scanner group both accounts can access scanner. of course changes if scanner turned off , on. why can 1 account access when owned root not other? <rant> have been fighting same $&^&^& usb scanner access problem 7 years now. first easy. figure out device name of scanner was, set ownership , permissions , golden. device names changed. dynamic. there hal script supposed fix permissions. worked while. didn't work there udev script. don't works or not. system old , there dangling scripts lying around may obsole...

i using trial version of indesign cs6 on mac osx 10.7.4  need export document interactive pdf. have found export works fine long none of objects within document have drop shadow. however, if add drop shadow object (text, images, or video) indesign crash when try export. adding drop shadow selecting object , choosing object > effects > drop shadow. there method should using add shadow if want export interactive pdf? what seeing not normal.   try making new file single object , see if works. if not, see replace preferences   if does, see remove minor corruption exporting   if neither of helps, please come back. i have made pdf book of artworks ( on mac) , have major problem. when send out, people able read others couple of white blank pages when view pdf online or download or either one. seems pages black , white... however when try open same file sent them on computer @ home( mac) or @ work(pc), works fine. but on iphone, same problem these people same pages turning blank...   all pages of book made in photoshop. saved them pdf individually before combining pdf book , had problem. tries save in jpg , convert , combine them pdf book, still same problem.... people white pages.... help appreciated. thank in advance. currently work word doc, uploaded sharepoint. file checked out , worked on , once saved sharepoint location, version saved. allows restore recent saved version previous version or see changes have been made @ each version in history.   i'm working incopy cs6 free trial understand features , whether suitable. understand checking in , out process get, ability see list of versions of document doesn't seem exist. missing it? incopy have version history of document being checked in , out, , resaved multiple users?   if there isn't obvious built in versioning solution in incopy how people go keeping versions of document incopy?   interested hear solutions have been tried , tested. you’re not missing anything. use track changes.       bob More discussions in InCopy adobe
